Terms of Service
Effective date: September 16, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of bostonlightandpower.com and the electrical services provided by Boston Light & Power LLC ("Boston Light & Power," "we," "us," or "our"). By using this site or requesting service, you agree to these Terms.
About us
Boston Light & Power LLC is a licensed electrical contractor serving the Greater Boston area. Massachusetts Master Electrician license 24281-A.
Use of this website
You may use this site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems, interfere with its operation, scrape or copy its content for commercial use, or submit false information through our forms. All content on this site, including text, photographs, logos, and design, belongs to Boston Light & Power or is used with permission, and may not be reproduced without our written consent.
Information on this site is not advice
The information on this site is general and provided for convenience. Electrical work is job-specific and depends on the condition of your property, your existing wiring, and applicable code. Nothing on this site is a professional recommendation for your specific situation, and you should not rely on it in place of an inspection by a licensed electrician. Never attempt electrical work yourself based on anything you read here.
Requesting service
Submitting a form, calling, or texting us is a request for service, not a binding agreement. A contract is formed only when we provide a written proposal or work order and you accept it, or when work begins with your authorization.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates and quotes we provide are based on the information available at the time and on a visual assessment of the work. They are not a guaranteed final price. Conditions that cannot be seen before work begins, such as concealed wiring, undersized service, code violations from prior work, or damage inside walls, may change the scope and the price. We will inform you before performing additional work that changes the agreed price.
Scheduling, access, and cancellation
Please give us at least 24 hours notice for non-emergency cancellations so we can serve other customers. You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the work area and for disclosing known hazards. If we cannot access the property at a scheduled appointment, a $150 service call fee applies. This is separate from the diagnostic service call fee charged on troubleshooting visits, which is credited toward the repair. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule.
Payment
Payment terms are stated in your proposal or invoice. Unless stated otherwise, payment is due on completion of the work. Late balances may accrue interest at the maximum rate permitted by Massachusetts law. If we have to pursue collection, you may be responsible for reasonable collection and legal costs.
Permits and inspections
Where a permit is required, we will tell you and, where appropriate, pull the permit on your behalf. Municipal inspection scheduling and outcomes are controlled by the local inspector, not by us, and we are not responsible for delays caused by a municipality.
Warranty
We warrant our workmanship for one year from the date the work is completed. Materials and equipment are covered by the manufacturer's warranty only. This warranty does not cover damage from misuse, alteration by others, additions or repairs by anyone other than us, power surges, storms, flooding, rodents, or normal wear. It does not cover pre-existing conditions in wiring we did not install. To make a warranty claim, contact us at (857) 855-7899 or ryan@bostonlightandpower.com or matt@bostonlightandpower.com.
Emergency work
Emergency and after-hours calls may be billed at a different rate, which we will tell you before dispatching. In an emergency involving smoke, fire, sparks, or a burning smell, call 911 first, then call us.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Boston Light & Power is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost income, loss of use, or spoilage, arising out of our services or your use of this site. Our total liability for any claim relating to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Massachusetts law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or any rights you have under Massachusetts consumer protection law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of this site, or hazardous conditions on your property that you failed to disclose.
Third party links
This site may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
Communications consent
By providing your phone number or email address you consent to be contacted about your service request as described in our Privacy Policy, including by automated text message. Reply STOP to opt out of texts. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
